Delicious Calzone Recipe
This is an easy calzone recipe that is perfect for a lunch or a weeknight dinner. Think of it as a stuffed pizza that you can dip into a sauce of your choice. You can even put some sauce inside of your dough to make it extra saucy if you wish. For this recipe, I’ll show you one of my favorite ways to make a calzone. I hope you enjoy!
Ingredients:
- Pizza Dough (My recipe is here)
- Half of Red Onion Finely Diced
- 2 Bacon Strips Cooked and Crumbled
- 4oz Pepperoni slices.
- Mozzarella Cheese (You can used shredded, but i prefer to slice mine off of a block)
- Garlic Compound Butter
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 450°F
- After you have made your dough, it should be enough for two calzones with the basic recipe. Cut your dough in half and press into a circle. be sure not to stretch to thin otherwise your dough will tear.
- On one half of your dough, add your onions, bacon, and pepperoni. Topping with your cheese. (Be sure to leave an edge of dough for folding.
- Fold the remaining half of your dough over the top and fold over the other side, creating a seal.
- Brush the top of your calzone with your garlic butter.
- Using a sharp knife, create two slits on the top of your calzone to allow the heat inside.
- Place your calzone onto a prepared baking sheet on an oil sprayed rack (This allows for better air flow and less sticking).
- Bake for 14 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove and let cool before enjoying!
