Copycat Beef and Cheddar
My take on the classic Arby’s Beef and Cheddar sandwich.
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 lb Roast Beef sliced thinly (my recipe here) or use deli roast beef.
- 2 Cups Cheddar Cheese
- 4 Tbsp Butter
- 1/4 Cup All Purpose Flour
- 1 Cup Half and Half
- 1 Tsp Garlic Powder
- Pinch of Salt
- 1/2 Tsp Ground Black Pepper
- Onion Buns
- 1 Cup Hot Water
- 1/4 Tbsp Minor’s Beef Base
Directions:
- I would start by making your beef broth. Boil your water and add your beef base and mix well. Set aside.
- To make the cheddar sauce, start by making a roux. Melt your 4tbsp of butter in a sauce pan and add 1/4 cup of flour. Mix well and cook for 1 minute. Slowly add in your half and half and using a whisk, mix until incorporated and smooth. Add in your cheddar in 1/2 cup increments and let melt completely.
- Toast your buns.
- Build your sandwich by dipping a few slices of roast beef in your beef broth using tongs for a few seconds and put onto the bottom bun. Spoon cheddar sauce on top and top with your bun.
